Avoid the Anguish of Deleted or Lost Files Easily
You don’t know that much about computers, are perhaps afraid to ask yet wish that someone could just point you in the right direction to avoid suffering deleted or lost files. It’s something that happens to everyone while they’re learning to use a computer, and at some point the exasperation gets to everyone. There are, however, a few things you can do to avoid losing previous files, and one or two things to be done when the loss does occur.
Prevention is Better than Cure
Think about it this way: you could be an expert computer user, but suddenly your hard drive gives a few clacking sounds before dying. It happens to most people. The one way to avoid deleted or lost files is to keep copies of them in other locations. These locations might be a DVD, an external hard disk drive or an off-site backup facility. In short: make regular backups of the files you cannot afford to lose.
But When Disaster Strikes…
It’s not really the end of the world, in most cases. The one thing you should do when you realise that there are deleted or lost files you urgently need is to stop working on the drive where those files were located. If that drive is in your computer, then it’s time to switch your computer off. The reason for this is to keep the deleted or lost files (or the locations where they were stored) from being overwritten with new data.
The next logical step is to get in touch with a data recovery service provider. Data recovery service providers typically have all the tools needed to restore deleted or lost files to their original state. That’s if the locations of those files have not been overwritten yet. If the amount of data to be restored is straight forward and minimal, then the entire operation can be completed in a couple of hours. More intricate jobs will take longer, and probably carry a higher price tag.
So relax, deleted or lost files are easily recovered – just switch your computer off in time.
